Rancho Ala Blanca translates ’White Wing Ranch’. With the nesting sanctuary of the ranch's namesake just over the horizon, it’s obvious why we built the ranch in this location-
Wingshooting- Fast Action White Wing Dove Hunting.

Two hunts daily of these swarming birds will satisfy even the most aggressive wingshooter. Whether surrounding a crop field, backed up against a watering hole or watching over natural seed and berry thickets, the action is challenging and intense, especially late in the season. If you enjoy dove hunts in the U. S., you’ll love what we have in store for you in Mexico. Located only a few miles from the largest White Wing Dove nesting areas in the world, there is no better Dove hunting anywhere in North America.

During White Wing season our scouts are constantly searching for the largest concentrations of White Wing Dove. Just hours before the hunt, the best location is selected and hunt preparations begin. You’ll leave the lodge at 7am for the morning hunt and around 2pm for the afternoon hunt. Our guides will take you to a choice location from 20-50 minutes from the lodge.

Each hunter is positioned about 200 feet apart by one of our guides and supplied with two bird boys, a swivel-seat bucket cooler filled with ice cold drinks, a Benelli semi- automatic M1 or M2 Super 90 shotgun, available in 12-and 20-gauge, left or right hand and 10 boxes of shells. So equipped, each hunter is fully prepared to face the thousands of swift, swirling, diving, White Wing Dove.

Your bird boys will retrieve your dove and tend to your needs.  Depending on the birds and the hunter use can vary from 5 to 20 boxes per hunt. We provide use of our new Benelli M1 and M2 semi-automatic shotguns.

This area, in the state of Tamaulipas, has hundreds of thousands of acres of irrigated, food producing and nesting habitat for the White Wing Dove which live and breed here. It supports huge flocks of these birds during their fall migration southward.

Brush Hunt

Since White Wing Dove love the brush this habitat makes for a good hunt location. They breed, nest and rest in the brush so they are hunted as they move from the brush to feeding or watering sites.

Waterhole Hunt

This area can be extremely dry, but the Soto la Marina River and an extensive network of irrigation canals leaving Lake Guerrero provide the dove with ample water sources. Finding the birds’ favorite waterhole and being there when they come in makes for an excellent hunt.

Field Hunt

Recently harvested fields will bring in dove by the thousands, as will ripe sunflower and sorghum fields, sown just for that purpose.  Flying in to feed in the morning and afternoon this is the most common
(and can be the most productive) hunt.

White Wing Dove seem to have evasive flight maneuvers.  Flying fast, they come into a site with steep dives, rapid turns and all manner of pitches.  This makes for challenging shots and the sheer number of birds makes for intense action.  A windy day can make the wing shooting even more difficult.  Many a bird will evade the shot.

After such a demanding experience, retiring to the Rancho Ala Blanca lodge only amplifies the satisfaction of an excellent hunt. Sore shoulders and good times are the norm and a cold drink, good food and a well deserved rest await you back at the ranch.
